Rule Discussion: Quarterback Yardage Scoring December 31, 2008
Posted by nerf20 in Rules Discusssion.2 comments
The following Rule Discussion was submitted via phone by the Falls Church Players.
Currently our Quarterback Yardage Scoring rule is:
1 point every 50 yards. 1pt bonus for 300 yds, 3 more bonus pts for 400 yds.
The Falls Church Players propose the following change:
1 point every 25 yards.
The rationale is that we have adjusted yardage for WRs and RBs by half. Also a QB is likely to have an INT or a Fumble per game which affects a TQB more because it take a hundred yards passing to get 2 points as opposed to 20 yards for WRs and RBs, not to mention PPRs.
Rule Discussion: Defensive scoring December 30, 2008

The proposed rule discussion was submitted via phone by the Kenosha Maroons:
Defenses get two points for blocked kicks and punts and that blocked kicks should be worth 2 points each for a defensive unit.
As a point of reference, NERFL had blocked kicks as a category back in the 1990s. Blocked kicks were eliminated at the end of the 1990s before our evolution into ESPN’s League Manager because it was too hard to track and unless a NERFL Owner watched a game or so a highlight on TV, it was the most overlooked part of hand scoring a game.
Now that ESPN can track all stats, such as blocked kicks and punts, in real time. The difficulty that once stood in the way (when games were scored by hand) has been removed.
